Getting "DAE can't get audio fast enough" msg after applying crossfade
So yeah, first time I resume playback after applying small crossfades, I most always get a "DAE can't get audio fast enough from the drive" message as soon as playback hits the fade spot. This is on a Dual Core MacPro with 5GB RAM, running OSX10.6.8 and PT9.0.5. And the drive holding the audio is an internal SATA drive, not external firewire.
I feel like I read something about this somewhere, but of course NOW I can't find it anywhere. Probably some real dumb fix that's just beyond me, only to reveal itself as soon as I submit this, as is most often the case. Anyhoo, if anyone knows what's up, give a holla! Thanks, E |

how full is the drive?
did you try consolidating the fades? are the fades being written to some other drive by mistake?

Re: Getting "DAE can't get audio fast enough" msg after applying crossfade
Drive has 100GB free. Fades being written to the project folder on the same drive. Don't want to bother with consolidating them, as this stall only happens if you try playing back right after you've applied the fade. If you wait a few seconds, it usually doesn't happen...USUALLY. Once in a while, even a delay of five seconds will still make it happen.
I'm plowing through hours and hours of spoken material (ie. audiobook) applying LOTS of fades, and I USUALLY do a quick play-through after applying a fade to make sure it sounds clean. Up until this particular project, I've not had this problem. But this having to wait a few seconds each time starts to really build up, time-wise. |

Re: Getting "DAE can't get audio fast enough" msg after applying crossfade
100GB of what?
500 GB would be 20% free 1 TB would be 10% free 2 TB would be 5% free as the drive fills up performance goes down sounds like the write is not complete when you try and play, another symptom of an overly full drive

500gb. I'll see how things go if I free up some space.
