Unhappy Can't record audio. Track meter not moving

Hi guys,

I'm brand new to Protools and I was going through the tutorial in the manual and I'm stuck on the 'record your performance to a track' section. I do exactly as it says, but the track meter doesn't move when i make noise into my microphone. i'm pretty sure I have set up I/O correctly (I have my mic plugged into input 1 of my audio interface and i'm pretty sure that's what i have selected, picture of my settings is here http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/9...10831at194.png).

I can hear the sounds from my mic through the monitor speakers and i can see the track meter moving on the M-Audio Profire control panel, but absolutely nothing on the track meter on Protools. I have tried reinstalling both protools and the profire drivers to no avail. Can anyone help me out?

Cheers!

make sure BOTH the red R on the track and the red R on the transport are selected. The one on the track "arms" that track for recording, the one on the transport "arms" the session for recording...

hope that makes sense....

Are you using a Mic that requires phantom power?

Well, if im just trying to set my levels, surely i don't need to press the record button on the Transport? Regardless, I tried it and the track meter on the mixer still won't budge.

I'm using a Samson Q7 snare drum mic, which as far as i'm aware, shouldn't need phantom power (only the ambient mics need phantom power i think). I am hearing it loud and clear on the monitor speakers, presumably i wouldn't if it required phantom power?
