Default one last AV Option question

Jon (or anyone)

we need to get a new black burst generator. if we buy the nanosync, can we feed its superclock to the USD along with the black burst? or would we be better off to save the money and just get an horita for black burst?

thanks

holly

Holly--

Each would do the job just fine. Unless your particular set up calls for a Nanosync, I would recommend saving the money.

Just my 2 cents.

If I understand your question correctly, I seriously doubt you will gain anything by having the Nanosync in the loop here.

With AV Option, blackburst and the USD are mandatory, so adding the Nanosync which would also need to be resolved to black in this scenario is redundant.

I suppose it would work but I would save the money and not put the Nanosync in here. In another situation where AV Option is not involved then it could be a different story.

redmann and john

thanks for the replies. we were thinking about the nanosync because it can create both black burst and clock, but we've decided to upgrade to HD and just run burst to the sync I/O. i know digi hasn't yet officially approved AV option with HD, but our dealer says that others are running it no problem and since we're between jobs at the moment we're going to make the jump.

thanks again

Really? That's interesting. Which dealer was that, I'd love to have a chat about their findings...see if it is worth going for yet.

Is this a reputable dealer?

I'd like to hear from AV/Option users that have switched already. Just the facts, maam.

(or is this dealer just trying to make a sale?)

What say you Jon? Are we there yet?

hi

it is a big LA dealer. says he has two clients running AV Option right now on HD. after he told us this, we called digi to confirm if this was even possible - i like the dealer, but hey, he's a dealer. we asked if it was even possible to try to run AV Option with HD, or if we were being fed a lie? of course, digi couldn't really say anything other than AV Option wasn't yet supported. so we asked if it was categorically impossible for AV Option to be running with HD already - as if maybe it would still require a software upgrade so the dealer HAD to be lying. we were not told that it was impossible. again, all that was said was that it still wasn't supported so if we try it we're on our own. since we're between projects we're going to try it. we were also told that we should be hearing something about AV Option support very soon.

all the best

holly

Most likely will work if you correctly install all of the necessary video engine components, extensions and authorization. It was not tested with 5.3 as of ship date so it's possible that there are issues.

I've heard of a couple reports that it's working, I haven't seen it with my own eyes or had a chance to try it myself yet.

In any event, it will soon be officially supported. I can't say exactly when because I don't know.
