I'm having the same problems

I just had a look with activity monitor did exactly the same as the youtube, hitting record on 8 tracks the cmd+z and starting again on the second pass of recording my CPU jumps to 144%

I'm running Pro Tools 11.1.3 and a MacBook Pro OS X 9.2 Mavericks, I've owned both the pro tools and a mac less then two weeks.

I started this thread earlier.

http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=354517

because I kept getting error (AAE-6104) CPU holding off USB audio could it be the same problem?

Has anyone already tried the new 11.2? Is the bug still present?

And has anybody actually seen anyone from avid make post or comment concerning this bug?

Just tested with
new Mac Pro Quad
PT11.2
10.9.4 (and 10.9.3)
HD Native
Reverb One is the only extra plug in

Took 5 cycles on a fresh install but still happens. Mac Mini, 3 iMacs and now the nMP. Not only has AVID never replied but this seems to be very few people ever pile on to this thread.

I have an ASC in my account - someday I will call them...

I get this frequently when working in PT all day long. They must know about this. I have seem this on other systems that I don't own.

Having a similar problem with 59.94 df but I get video jitters and then after it jitters for a while (seems like the computer is having a hard time processing the video) it gives me a CPU error when clearly I'm not using all my CPU juice.

I will pile on.
problem exactly as described. after 10 minutes to 10 hours, cpu jumps to over 100% while recording 8 tracks with no plug ins. and stays there until restarting pro tools.
on mac mini i7 2.3 12gb 10.9.3 (was happening with 10.8.5, also)
and imac i5 2.6 16gb
rme ufx on usb or fw
and digi 002

Just out of curiosity, do those with this issue have spotlight turned OFF on their recording drives as recommended by Avid?

At least for 10.9.x spotlight is actually supposed to be ON now
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/t.../Optimize-10-9

Regardless - you bet I tried
turned spotlight off on recording drive
Recorded to the internal ridiculously fast PCIe SSD drive
Turned spotlight off globally via Terminal...

It is pretty much 1 year now since this reared its head for me. It has been on every PT11.x release - Every OSX Release - dating back to 10.8.5 - 2012 Mac Mini, 27" i5 imac, 27" i7 imac and now a Quad core nMP (all with HDN hardware - every cable replaced at least once) - clean installs - installs full of plugins - no usb3 - all usb3 - every option turned on and off in pretty much every preference pane... etc... etc... PT will at times during my recording day just sit there and use 25% of my machines resources for nothing. The nMP is at least impervious to heating up when this happens - +4degC....

How this is not a widespread complaint completely baffles me. I have seen at least 3 instances of people testing this and it DIDN't happen. No clue why? There are also reports from FW interfaces, USB interfaces and MBP. Only notable exception is HDN with PCIe card on old Mac Pro. Tested twice by two different people - doesn't happen...

I turned off Time Machine and Spotlight and don't have any problems. I think it might have been Time Machine. Will do more testing.

As a backup solution I'm trying a time machine scheduler which appears to be working well.

While I am certainly glad you are solving your issue I am also pretty sure it is not the same issue this thread is about - see video on first page.

FWIW - I never use Time Machine and it has never been enabled in any of my testing of this issue.
