Need win98SE for PTLE 001 ???
Was recently given Pt 5.0.1 by a friend. I also bought a new computer which came with XP. Sounds great ,however when I try to install said program I am asked for widows 98 Second Edition. if I aquire 98se should I partition my Os's or just run on the asked for system, or do something altogether different.
Will be stoked with any info which may help. peace |

Re: Need win98SE for PTLE 001 ???
If it is standalone software, meaning it does not require any Digidesign hardware, then it is Pro Tools Free software, which is based on Pro Tools LE v5.0.1. That will only run on Windows 98SE or Windows Me. If you do have Digidesign hardware, such as an Audiomedia III card or a Digi 001, then you would need to upgrade it on the DigiStore for $50 to get version 5.3.1 which will run on Windows XP.
But it sounds like you have Pro Tools Free. In that case, see this page in the Compatibility Documents: http://www.digidesign.com/compato/win98seMeFree.html as well as the other Pro Tools Free compatibility pages: http://www.digidesign.com/compato There is also a Pro Tools Free for Windows 98/Me forum here on the DUC: http://duc.digidesign.com/cgi-bin/ub...ubb=forum;f=36

Re: Need win98SE for PTLE 001 ???
Just noticed that you have PTLE 001 in the Subject. If you have a Digi 001, you can use it with either Pro Tools LE 5.0.1 on Windows 98SE or Windows Me by creating a dual boot system separate from Windows XP, or you can purchase the upgrade to v5.3.1 and run that on Windows XP. For $50, it might be easier just to get the upgrade and have the newer software with more tracks (32 instead of 24) than it would be to go through the trouble of a dual-boot system.
Upgrade details here: http://www.digidesign.com/support/cs...pt5leupgd.html

Re: Need win98SE for PTLE 001 ???
Hello digidesign. I do in fact own 5.1 as well as an audio card and the 001 hardware it's been conected and driving me nuts because I cant plug my instruments into it because of operating system stipulations. I saw your message about the upgrade for free to 5.3 but was wondering what would happen to the plugins that i have as i do have quite a lot. It would in fact be worth it to downgrade to another Os rather than loose the plugis however if it is possible to upgrade to a new version of pro tools then mo betta
you didn't leave a link to contact you directly so i had to post on my own topic sorry |

Re: Need win98SE for PTLE 001 ???
It depends on your plugins. Waves run without problem on winXP, and i think bombfactory has an update for winxp out...
What plugins do you want to work with winXP?
