Digidesign Audio Drivers Install Problem

I have been trying to re-install Digidesign Audio drivers on my PC but the program hangs and will not complete install - I’ve run Pro Tools LE 7.4 and Cubase 3 with Digidesign’s 003 for some time without any problems but I recently installed Cubase 5 and it was not seeing the ASIO driver. As I no longer need Pro Tools on this partition I thought I’d try a re-install – just using the ASIO drivers.

Running regedit I removed all related files but found the following files/folders could not be deleted:
Digidesign folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software
DeviceDesc, Mfg, 1394\Digidesign&_003: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Control001 Erum\1394\ AA007EA000
Ethernet Support: Root\ LEGACY_DIGINET\0000
MME Refresh Service – Enum\Root
I’m guessing some of these files are required to run the 003.

I have run Pro Tools 7 & 8 Uninstallers downloaded from website; Ver. 7 finished ok… but ver. 8 hung - I had tried installing Pro Tools 8 - installed on my DAW partition. My original re- install was run from original Pro Tools CD but I have just tried Digidesign Audio_Drivers_7, downloaded from Digi Website, with no success.

System Spec: Windows XP Home SP3, Intel Core2 Quad Q6600@ 2.40 GHz, 3.24 GB Ram
Dual Boot setup on system drive

I would welcome any thoughts in sorting out my problem.
