High pitch noise coming through outputs on mbox mini
Sorry, I know this has been posted before but the answers did not answer my question. So here's the question:
Running mbox mini on mac os (10.4.11version). Changed processor to 1.0 ghz, updated ram to 1.5 gig. Computer is a G4 ''Digital audio.'' Everytime I launch pro-tools, I get this high pitched noise coming from the outputs. Bi-passed mixer and plugged in directly to powered speakers. Still get noise. Changed wires. No luck. Since I have Pro-Tools installed on my PC as well, I plugged the USB cord to PC and the noise goes away! I only here the noise when I have the battery charger hooked up. It's the same type of noise on the Mac I followed all the troubleshooting tips from previous threads and still cannot get rid of this noise Has anyone experience this before and if so, is there a solution or is it something in the MAC causing this noise?!?!? Sounds like digital noise of some kind.. Also,Is there a way to not use the usb port to power mbox mini? Anyway to work around this?? Thanks for your help or suggestions! |

Re: High pitch noise coming through outputs on mbox mini
GAH! The same thing happened to me yesterday, but I'm running mine with a PC. Whenever I launch pro tools, the noise comes. The noise stops if I disconnect the outputs. Tried different cables, different routing, nothing helps. And oddly enough, the sound just sort of appeared in the middle of a session when nothing was happening. I didn't change anything, I was just sitting there, then breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Re: High pitch noise coming through outputs on mbox mini
BunnyKilla--
Had similar issue (with MBox 2). Solutions--1. Don't use USB cable, MIDI cables only, but that won't help you here.... 2. I used an ARTcessories cleanbox for 1/4 " audio cables (between instrument and digi interface)-- might not completely eliminate problem, but will greatly reduce noise. Good luck. Of note, problem completely resolved with Digi 003 interface. ??? |

Re: High pitch noise coming through outputs on mbox mini
Did you try using balanced/TRS cables? That solved this issue for me.

Re: High pitch noise coming through outputs on mbox mini
Well it works fine on my PC..I only hear it when I hook it up to my G4..Does balance cables have two rings or one ring? I'm using unbalanced cables I believe. My cables only have one ring.

Balanced cables have 2 rings.
