Default Processing question

I just kind of want to throw this idea out there;

what's the possibility that Avid might produce a separate process card for HD Native users at some point? I am thinking along the lines of the Universal Audio UAD-2 where you could expand your capabilities at a lower price point than switching to HDX.

The UAD-2 card and its plug-ins are proprietary, so if Avid offered a card specific for AAX plug-ins a user would (I would think) have access to a broader range of processing options.

Wouldn't that be a win for Avid, Native users and the AAX format? Or should I assume that's what HDX is supposed to address?

May be it's just me but I think there are already too many options offered by Avid...

...or you could just buy yourself a faster computer?! I'm struggling to get my 12-core beyond 10% and I use a LOT of plug-ins.

10%?

My HDN Mac 12 core is always in the 45-58%
Although it's using a 192 interface but with 12 Gb Memory and 6Gb in Disk - ram.

Not many if any Vi's when mixing although VI's when creating.
Voice latency even at 32 is notable compared to TDM tracking. (No Pi's)

Possibly I use a lot of Waves V9 in native the pushes me higher.
Altiverbs as well.

40-160 track are common in my sessions. and not much cpu difference between them other than increased buffer settings.

And yes I had that same thought due to the little card-jumpper-like slot on the top of the Native card.

I'm eyeballing the trade back the native and do the 192/HD3 exchange for HDX1/Omni.

The difference (Less the HD3) both with Omni's is around a grand.

I also know now (After trying Native) my other HD3 systems will stay in service for a while.....

Yes, a faster computer is an option. And while I'm not necessarily looking to upgrade at the moment (I just switched over to a quad core with HDN in January from HD2, and it's more powerful than that system was). There are plenty of ways to work around processor limitations. I usually track my VI's before mixing anyway because versions of VI's will change and whatnot.

I'm just wondering if it would make sense for Avid, given that Native is courting a certain sized user, to put out a cost-effective (cheap) complimentary process card suitable for ALL ProTools compatible plug-ins.

Ehhhhhhh, probably not.
