Any opinions on how the 6-core i7 at 3.2 GHz would compare to the 4-core i7 at 4.2 GHz in the iMac? I'm thinking about the new mac mini as a replacement for my iMac.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other... really. The 2017 iMac is the best when it comes to single core tasks, while the Mac Mini will probably have a slight edge in multicore processing.

Still waiting on that package! Says it's coming today now!

I'll be doing preliminary tests this weekend with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Pro Tools 12.6. I'll upgrade to .2018 only if I need to. If things look good, I'll move it to the studio next week with the VRS-8s.

That's running Mojave.

Pray for Mojo.

I’ve got my new MacMini this week. Installed a memory upgrade myself. Yesterday I’ve been busy buying a screen, usb-c adapters, updating and installing ProTools 2018.10 and all plugins. I’ll try some tests this evening.

Too bad. For me the soldered storage is a dealbreaker. Don't actually mind soldered CPU but I am fairly sure in couple of years I need more terabytes than is affordable today.

Had to run out and buy a new wireless router; apparently this new Mac Mini is too l33t for the router I bought two years ago.

Just booted up, installed Firefox. Getting Pro Tools set up now; gonna do some recording tests with no plugins installed.

Be back in a bit!
