You can use a Pro Control with your MIX system:
http://www.digidesign.com/compato/os9/mix/

You should probably update from 5.1 to 5.1.1:

The version number will be in the Get Info window. Find the Pro Tools application on your hard drive, highlight the icon, Command+i for Get Info (or choose Get Info from the File menu).

You don't have to update to 5.1.1, but it's free and there are features that were added, including one for Pro Control:

No, it's not in your computer or on the CD. It's inside the front cover of your TDM Installation Guide if 5.1 came with the MIX system when it was new, or else in the documentation that came with the upgrade to 5.1.

If you don't have those, you would need to contact Digidesign Customer Service Administration with your registered name and address so they can look up your Pro Tools registration. If you did not register, registration and transfer of ownership information is here:
www.digidesign.com/support/cs/reg

If you bought the system used, you would need to either get the authorization from the seller or purchase the software from Digi CS. Just email them and they can answer your questions: www.digidesign.com/contact
