Fresh install or over 2019 ?
Can you run the installer as is or do you have to uninstall 2019?

Re: Fresh install or over 2019 ?
In OSX just install right over whatever version of PT you have now. Do be aware that for Macs the workspace file gets overwritten and the new version won't work with previous versions of PT you may have on the computer. Luckily the installer lets you know about this before mucking things up.

Re: Fresh install or over 2019 ?
As a rule... It's best to do a complete uninstall first. Though many people have run the installer over the previous version successfully.

Re: Fresh install or over 2019 ?
I had to do a fresh install(also on Windows 10). Installing over the previous version was causing endless hardware problems(could not get PT to recognize any interface).

Does AVID recommending uninstalling first? If so, I haven't seen any documentation about that.

Re: Fresh install or over 2019 ?
I have always just installed over the previous version. I have never had a problem. Using MAC OSX Catalina.

Re: Fresh install or over 2019 ?
Never had a problem with OSX either but I can see where Windows people are coming from. A long time ago I used to run a Winbox with Sonar 8. Every update was a complete uninstall with also taking a trip through the Registry to remove any leftover bits & bobs the uninstaller would miss. CCleaner was my tool of choice for that as it's much easier than traipsing through the Registry hoping I'd remove the necessary stuff (and not something that would hose my system).

Re: Fresh install or over 2019 ?
Is it not possible to install in addition to a previous version of PT (2018.12 in my case)?

Re: Fresh install or over 2019 ?
Did my own research and found that yes, it is. Rename the old app to the specific version in the finder, copy the database preference file, and all should be good to go.
