Default PCIe HD Hardware not recognized after installing PT9

I installed 9, and the HD drivers. Then I launched. PT9 did not even see HD hardware. Not in the Playback Engine Dialogue, nor the HW Dialogue.

AMS saw the HD HW, but showed it as a big PCI logo with zero ins and outs.

I then updated to 901.

Same thing.

On the 901 update page, it informs me that I am to update the drivers as well, but it links me to a driver "update" that is, in reality, the exact same driver install file from the version 9.0 master disc that came in the retail box.

See this link:

The Driver is not a 901 driver.

I am dead in the water right now, and unhappy with my very expensive HD3 on my Mac Pro 8-core running 10.6.6.

Hi,

There's no need to install separate HD drivers! they are included in the PT9 install.

That driver is probably for people wanting to use HD with other DAW's or coreaudio etc.

You probably need to uninstall the HD driver and your PT9 install then re-install just PT9

Trash prefs and reboot before re-installing.

Don't know where the driver installed to so you'll have to search for it it there isn't an uninstaller for it.

Just to clarify, are you loading PT9 or PT9HD.

1. Did you crossgrade with your HD iLok asset and serial number to PT9HD?
2. Did you crossgrade to PT9 (non HD) from an M-powered or PTLE interface?
3. Did you purchase PT9 (non HD) full package?

I had the exact same problem while intentionally trying to use PT9 (not PT9HD) on HD hardware. See this: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=291941

What's happening here Avid? I was informed that this would work, but without TDM or I/O beyond 8 in and 8 out.

Yep, that was the problem. So now I will complain, and I believe its valid.

I am a former Avid Employee and I could not figure out from the Avid website that there was a difference between PT9 and PT9HD.

In fact, it gives one the strong impression that a boxed copy of full PT9 is all I needed, so I went out and bought one. Then finally a guy at West LA fills me in on the fact that there is no "boxed" full version of HD, and if you want HD you have to buy the cross-grade/upgrade ONLY. So then I had to sink another $300+ dollars on that.

Let me tell you how happy I am to have wasted that money, Gary.

Not. one. little. bit.
