I agree but I am also going to upgrade to 8gb of ram very soon, so this was part of the plan. But I cannot see why core 2 duo processors should be considered as little cpu power?

Talking Re: Update 8.03 causes problems running win7

I checked the registration database (regedit) for 'errorReport.dll' and found numerous incidents of this file all residing in software folders from Sony. I then found that file in the Program files/sony/ folder and checked that the file has a digital signature from Sony. But I figured it could not hurt to copy that file over to the Digidesign/ProTools folder.
And wouldn't you know! It fixed the annoying error!
So no more annoying pop up windows saying: 'errorReport.dll is missing'.
Why Pro Tools would need one of these files is beyond me though.
I do use plugins from Sony but they are all VST based, so they should not interfere with the plugins in ProTools? I also deleted all plugins testing the PT8 system. Now I am going to see if I can install the 3dparty plugins from IkMultimedia, and Overloud and sofort.

Thumbs up Re: Update 8.03 causes problems running win7

I had the same problem and i reformatted and reinstalled win 7 (32 bit)
and reinstalled PT 8,8.01,8.04 in succesion and still had the problem
and continued to use PT 8.04 with the error anyways
""""erroreporting.dll can not be found in your system""""""
until..........drumroll please....
I tried to bounce to disk a composition I had made to MP3....no go....
and I remembered I had purchased the MP3 option from Digi
reinstalled it from the PT8 installation CD/DVD and i restarted
Protools and Voila!!!!! no error.
I think this error is generated by the Ilock dongle, because as soon as it saw
the mp3 option and authorized it ,the problem went away

Hope this helps somebody
