MAckie Control is not working with Pro Tools 6.4

Hello all. I am running Pro Tools 6.4 on Windows XP 32 bit. I have a Mackie Control Universal (grey body) that I have hooked up via midi in /out to my Digi interface. I have gone through all the procedures described in the manual to get it actively working with Pro Tools with NO success. I go to setup > peripherals > midi controllers and under "Type" I can change that from none to HUI. When I do that the #'s channel column activates but it doesn't give me the option to change the numbers to anything. Even so the "receive from" and "send to" columns stay "greyed out" therefore NOT giving me the option to change either to "Hui". Furthermore when I go to the Midi pull down menu I don't even have the "Input Device" tab. Is there ANYONE out there that can help me before I throw this thing against the wall?
