Default Any VSL users out there ?

Hi,
Sorry to post a new thread, but my old post has been hijacked !

I'm ready to spend money on orchestral libraries, and for strings, I've narrowed my search to VSL.

But in VSL solo strings, I found an artefact in nearly all demos I've heard:

Between 0:00 and 0:10 (VI_grace_fast) and 0:27 (VI_forte_piano_Vibrato), are good examples of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m00W14KqqOo

In this demo, do you hear a sort of "looped high pitch noise" behind notes ?
You have to listen carefully, but it's there !
I think that all vibratos articulations are concerned too.......

What a pity, I really like this library !
Any user could confirm this problem and tell me if all VSL strings libraries are affected please ?
Is there an update or a workaround to avoid this ?

Thank you in advance,
Ludo.

The audio quality in the video isn't great but are you sure what you're hearing isn't just natural bowing noise, i.e. the sound of the bow scraping across the strings? It's particularly exposed at 1:30. If the noise wasn't there then it would't sound like a real violin!!!!

Yeah that's bow noise. I have a pretty large library myself & that's never been an issue (being that's real)

Default Any VSL users out there ?

Funny thing is, for as long as I can remember, I've always been concerned with trying to fake/exaggerate bowing sound out of sample libraries. Especially in the old days.

Hi,
I don't think it's the bow noise, because at 1:30 with the harmonic + bow noise, I cannot hear what I hear in the others mentioned parts;

Furthermore, in vibratos articulations, the noise follows the oscillation of the vibrato, a bow noise wouldn't act like that !?

In the other hand, I admit that's subtle, I hear it when I'm focused and try to hear it, but I don't know if that will be an issue on the long run....

Spent some time listening to this and what I'm hearing in the background is reverb noise; not the reverb effect itself but noise in the hall setting used in Altiverb - they even mention in the synopsis underneath the video about using Altiverb. How realistic that is supposed to be in that particular Altiverb setting I don't know but it's distracting in trying to make a critical evaluation of ANY sample library, not just VSL. Dry would have been better.

Bow noise is different. This sounds more like a noise gate opening and closing letting in background noise which you wouldn't get in a sample set (or at least you shouldn't without something else going on).

Thanks,
I didn't realise that a reverb was used !
This "noise" isn't mentioned anywhere on forums etc..., so I guess, and I try to force myself to believe, that's not the sample set who's guilty and hope that's not an issue in samples themselves !

I can't really tell if what I'm hearing is a reverb noise or something else...
That's hard to describe, it's a note + bow noise (friction) + unknown noise (kind of higher flutter harmonic behind the sound, not between them).
Could it be the reverb, I don't know.

If someone with this library (VSL solo Strings) could confirm that there's no additional noise, I'd be happy !
