Default Pre-allocating disk space for recording

I know you can have Pro Tools pre-allocate disk space by pressing CTL-COMMAND-SPACEBAR befor recording, but this doesn't work correctly for me when I'm locking to external timecode.

I've tried COMMAND-J first to go online, then press CTL-COMMAND-SPACEBAR. It locks up and goes into record, but not at the right timecode.

Any advice? I'm in OS9 right now, but I'm also interested to see if anyone can get this to work in OS X.

Thanks

I don't use that key combination. I go to the preferences panel and set the disk allocation.

Once upon a time, hilighting the area to record would allocate the amount of HD space required for the selected section. Don't know if that has changed. But it's someplace to start your research.

Still works that way. So to pre-allocate locking to TC you select the region then put it into record ready.

I finally got around to trying this. When the machine sees incoming TC, it goes into record, but NOT locked to the right SMTPE address. Anyone know how to get this to work?

I'm using 5.3.1cs6 with OS 9.2.2 so maybe this has been changed in 6.x, I haven't tried this in OS X yet.
