Default !!HD native Thunderbolt device doesn't boot!!

Hi folks,

I'm absolutely clueless!

Yesterday I had a session running... all day long... no problems and everything seems to work fine!
After the work has been done I disconnected my HD native thunderbolt (with HD OMNI as an interface).
A few minutes later something regarding the project popped up on my mind and I connected the unit again... and then BOOOOM..... NOTHING happened!!!!
The LED stood blank and a high, "rhythmical" noise kinda whistling was noticeable!
Disconnected the TB-Cable and plugged it in again....no effect!

What went wrong and more important how to fix it??!

I need the unit at least next week, I resident in Germany and it is unthinkable first to get an RMA and then send it to AVID and wait for weeks....sorry.
Is there another option??

My Setup:
Macbook Pro retina (late 2013), OS X 10.9.4, PT HD 11.2.1, latest AVID Drivers and Firmwares, HD native TB + HD OMNI, TB-Display

Thanks a lot in advance for any type of help!

Cheers,

Stefan

Relax.

First check if the red/green light powers up when you connect the TB cable. If so, you have a software issue which hopefully can be solved quicker than doing a complete reinstall of the system.

If it doesn't, then the unit does not power up, which means the problem is either:
- the TB cable (check with another one)
- the TB port on your computer (check with another one)
- the TB port on your HDN box (call your avid dealer and get it serviced)

Double-check this and report back with more info.

Hi JFreak,

thanks for your quick answer!

Well, the status LED doesn't do anything.
There is something happening inside the device...so I guess the TB-Cable is working and my TB-Port (I tried another one and I tried the TB-Display on each port) on my MB is also fine.
I would say that the TB-connection on my HDN is also working more or less quite properly... because there's this quiet, high rhythmical noise/whistling kinda thing inside my HDN when It's connected or at least tries to do so....

Cheers!

If the led does not come up, the unit has not powered up. I had mine serviced because of that

Have you by any chance used the box daisy-chained to an Apple TB display? Mine was, and whether I have no idea if that was the problem, I'm not foing to do that anymore

okay, well no. I'm always using it on a seperate TB-port.
So the best thing would be to contact the technical support where I bought it, right?

Sadly, I think so. But it will take 1-2 weeks to get it serviced (in Ireland) so you better negotiate a rental if you need it next week.
