Inhereited session mess
I have been taken on an album to mix which has been through 4 people before me who have managed to create an almighty mess.
1. Clips not named by instrument ie "audio1 " etc on ALL recordings !!! 2. Complete mixture of sample rates and bit depth. 3. Multiple projects for same songs. 4. Probably more to be found but am dreading what I will find.... What would be my most expedient and efficient way of getting this all organised so that I can forge forwards ? TIA Wally |

Quote:
2. Work: sift through each session to clean it up, label, name, etc. Then maybe do a Save Copy In, one for each song, to consolidate what you need. 3. Do not try to merge sessions/songs to mix them "together". One song per session ALWAYS!! that's it. There's a reason they call it work. |

Re: Inhereited session mess
Drew is right.
3. If there are multiple versions, I would ask. Don't waste your time. 4. By the sound of things, you'll find more. Maybe some of it will be a pleasant surprise?

Re: Inhereited session mess
Ugh! I feel your pain I might take a slightly altered path here. I would likely open each session and start by soloing each track to ID what it is and rename each track. Then arrange them as works for me(or you) and then immediately go File>Save Session Copy>give it a new name and copy all the audio(really just a variation of what has been suggested). At the very least, If I didn't save a completely new session, I would go File>Save As and give it a new name
