Default The Best Head Phones...

I know that it is not advisable to mix through headphones, but let say you have no choice but to use a headset, than what do you think what are the best headphones for this purpose?

Sennheiser HD 650, Grado RS-1 or else?

Thanks for any oppinions!

I have a pair of AKG K 271 that I am quite happy with.

Grado RS-1. They sound almost the same as genelecs. I monitor back and forth between the Grados and genelecs and they sound the same.

either ones. but i prefer the 650's. i think they are simply the best! that's what i use.

for talent and musicians, the closed cupped AKG 271's are pretty good, natural.

I'd like to put a vote in for Sennheiser's HD600's, not cheap but sound fantastic.

How detailed and accurate the RS-1 in the bass and mid-bass area comparing to the Genelecs?
I recently tested the Sennheiser HD 650 and, well they sound very natural and detailed even in the bass area.
The HD 650 is definitely the best among the Sennheiser headsets.

Another vote for the Senn 650's. I can't trust my room below 80Hz ao I use the 650's (amazing low end) to double check things there.

Haven't used Grados in a long time but when I did I thought they were also top notch.

The Grado RS-1 at first has more detail in the mid, but mostly in the high frequencies. However after you "break in" the HD 650 by using it for about 100 hours or more the Sennheiser becomes just as good as the RS-1.
On top of this the HD 650 is very comfortable.
