Default MIDI Issues with Pro Tools

I'm thinking about getting Pro Tools setup. But I keep hearing about how flawed the MIDI is. What are people talking about? Is it the features, reliability, latency, timing? Etc. Are there any current problems with using MIDI in Pro Tools?

I think what you are hearing is that PTs is not the most sophisticated MIDI program out there. But it does get the job done and is very reliable..Most problems you hear about are from people who don't read the manual and can't figure it out.

A lot of people who talk about "how flawed the MIDI is" are usually used to working in another program, and are comparing ProTools to that program. ProTools MIDI functionality is very streamed down; no bells and whistles and I've grown to like it. I do miss some things that I used to be able to do in Cakewalk, but not so much to go and say that ProTools is flawed. It's not; it's just DIFFERENT.

YMMV

I also think a lot of people say it is flawed because they hear other people say it. I dont think they have actually used it. Sure it may have some bugs... Here is my bug:

Sometimes I have no grid functionality, and so even if a note is butted up to the beginning of the third 1/4 beat mark in a measure and I try to select it by cross-selecting the 3rd 1/4 measure, it wont select the midi note, because in some alternate dimension the midi note is still TIED into the second 1/4 measure by the tiniest smidgeon. Even a quantize wont fix it. The only fix for me is to offset EVERYthing MIDI related by 1 tick.

Other than that it works great for me. I love it. Like said above, it is very laid back and simple. and in my environment, thats what I need. I dont have time to play around with everything little thing.
