Used D-003 Desk, Really need help getting set up.

Hi there, i've recently upgraded to a Digidesign system and i have also just got a mac, i've had my mac about a month, for the past 4 years i've been using Cubase (yuk.) and i've only had about 5/6 hours on Pro tools, so i'm a novice to the whole system itself.

Basicilly, i've bought myself a second hand Digidesign 003 and i am having trouble installing it all, it's come with Pro Tools LE 7 and i've installed it, but i couldn't get the iLok to work, and the site i needed to use to register it was not working. So i then went on the then install my Pro Tool HD 8 upgrade and has installed fine, and iLok is working. But, it cannot open because the Hardware will not work, it's just showing (003 OFFLINE) the whole time, i had a look in logic to see if my Mac was picking up the device, and it is, but it's just not working.

Please would someone be able to advise me on how to get the LE software +/or the Hardware working on my computer?

You probably need to list more information about your computer, including version of the OS.

Also, does the Digi003 show up in AMS?

Okay cool, what forum do i need to be in? and, i'll check out the stickys and make a more detailed search/or make a more detailed thread about my problem, just want to get it sorted asap because i have this beautiful desk sat infront of me not being used!

And in response to an earlier comment here are my full MAC specs;

MAC OS x 10.5.8

2.66 core 2 duo

4gb RAM

350 internal, 500 external (gb) HD

Sometimes a previous installation will prevent a new one from working.

Use the ProTools uninstaller to completely uninstall ProTools, then install v8 again..

I was gonna suggest trying a different FW port on the iMac, but I guess there is only 1.

Actually, how are you connecting the 003 and your HD?

I have done 3 or 4 complete uninstalls and reinstalls and it doesn't seem to have done something, my current message when trying to open pro tools LE is "pro tools hardware is either not installed or being used by another program". I'm connecting my 003 to my Mac via the firewire port on the back of both machines.

In responce to Keybeeetsss; I have the HD 8 upgrade pack, and i tried to install that also, but it didnt work.

Keybeeetsss hit the nail on the head.

You need the LE 8 upgrade pack. Pro Tools HD only works with HD hardware.
