Default record modes

I am trying to overdub on the same track. But when I rewind the track to begin recording, the underlying track doesn't play (I think it gets recorded over.)

I am positive that I am recording in NON-DESTRUCTIVE mode. Do I need to enable the underlying track in order to hear it - and HOW do I do it...

Peace

Make sure that you do not have record enabled turned on the track that you want to keep. Make the record button go to PUNCH RECORD. If you right click on the button you will see it change. There will be a "D" I believe, then a "P" P is what you want for punching in. Then on your time bar, you will see PRE-ROLL and POST-ROLL. That sets where you want the song to start and give the player time to get into the beat. Then the highlighted portion is what punches in.

Understand???

Although it looks like you are recording over the previous track, you are not. Take a look in the regions-window. There all your pieces reside...

If you want to combine several takes, and double them or triple the..etc. you will need to set up another channel, and record to that one. Then you can mix them al together.

Lower Right of the Edit window, you will see a double carrot (arrow) Click that. Sounds like it is hidden!
