Default Pro Tools Mobile !!!

Hi guys... I need to have a mobile version of pro tools, and I want to use my MacBook (black) for that.

The question is... does it have the power to do mixes ? I'm not looking for too much power, just enough to do "standard" mixes.

I've an Mbox 1, but it will be great if I could do the mixes with an mbox micro but does it have the same buffer size ?? I mean, my mbox 1 goes up to 1028, but I now that the Mbox 2 goes to 2000 or so... how big is the buffer size for the mbox micro ??

THANK YOU for the info !!!

The core 2 duo macbooks rock for PT. It'll have plenty of power, esp if you up the ram. As far as the buffer question I'm clueless as I use an 002.

But if I'm only using plugins (not virual instruments) the power comes from the cpu right ? not from the ram...

Your OS and PT itself still needs Ram to operate. PT itself "can" access up to 4GB, not counting what your OS requires. So while in a way you are correct, you can still see an improvement in most systems when you increase the RAM. Somewhere around 4-5GB seems to be the point where you notice little difference unless you use a lot of VI's.

I think the lowest buffer size in 8.0 for a Mbox is currently 128. I don't know what the largest buffer is, As I recall it was at least 1024 on Windows. My MBox is long gone.

The MBox2 Micro has buffers of 64,128,256,512,1024 and 2048 on Windows in PT8.0. OSX is presumably the same.

If you just mixing a Micro should be just fine and they sound nice. If your using tons of Vi's or doing really heavy editing you might run out of CPU. Either way I would recommend as much RAM as the machine can hold.
