Audio tracks silent and why?
Hi There,
I'm working on a soundtrack in Pro Tools 12. This is a new problem and I can't solve it. I have a track that suddenly is mute. If I solo the track I hear it. If I unsolo and play the track along with the other audio tracks I can't hear it. I've trashed the preferences and that made no difference. My volume on the track is fine. I didn't change that. I don't see any issues with my I/O setup and I don't see any info so far that deals with something like this. It's really strange. because all of my tracks have been playing just fine...until now. Any suggestions? It's frustrating because I'm at the very end of the soundtrack. Hope someone can help! Thanks once again. L. |

Re: Audio tracks silent and why?
Hi, How is it routed? I've had a lot of weird bussing issues like the one you're describing since about Pro Tools 12 too.

Re: Audio tracks silent and why?
Oh my! I feel like a total jerk this time! Finally, I found the issue and it was a soloed track at the bottom of my audio and midi files. When I unchecked that the I could hear the sound. So sorry to bother all of you. I have so many tracks and it didn't occur to me until just now that I should make absolutely sure that nothing was soloed. I'm so relieved that this wasn't a real issue. Thanks again! L.

Re: Audio tracks silent and why?
For future reference, there are indicators at the top of the Edit window that tell you if there are any tracks soloed or muted. You can click on them to clear all solos or mutes, but I wouldn't recommend it, since it's so easy to accidentally clear all mutes, which is not undoable.

Re: Audio tracks silent and why?
Thank. you! Looks like I still have the issue, but was able to make a new audio track with the sound working. I still don't know what's going on. Hopefully, the new track will hold steady.

Re: Audio tracks silent and why?
Pay attention to routings, solos and mutes. If you think routings have no problem as in all tracks going to out1-2 then as said your problem most likely is messed up soloing or muting. You can clear all solos or mutes by holding option while clicking on a button. Option button meaning it affects all tracks on one click.
