Default Way around unsupported 915p chipset with protools?

So i worked out what has to be the problem with my pro tools buffering out every 20secs when recording, my intel chipset 915p is one not supported by 7.1 - There has to be away or patch or something around this?

... I would very much love to change systems however i have spent alll of my money getting a good enough pc, mbox, mic etc. and really am just fiending to get on the mic and record and get to knowing this program inside out.

Here's a little info i copied over: once again thank you very much for your time!

Chipset

Detected Chipset:
Intel(R) 915 Express Chipset family

Chipset Components

Memory Controller:
82915G/P

I/O Controller:
Intel(R) 82801FR I/O controller hub (ICH6R)

hmm - is it worth downloading these for the chip :

http://support.intel.com/support/chi.../CS-011594.htm ??

.. I have a Pentium 4 : it suggests this:

Suggested workaround:

For heavily loaded audio solutions, the best alternative is to utilize systems based on chipsets that utilize the B-2 or C-0 step of the ICH6 component, which has been better optimized for heavy audio traffic. Also, although Intel has not validated a high speed USB hub as a solution to this issue, we are aware of certain 3rd party system manufacturers that are using an external high speed USB hub to mitigate this issue on platforms with the B-1 step of the ICH6 component."

Chipset Requirements with Intel Pentium 4 processors & Digidesign/M-Audio USB Devices
The following chipsets have been approved with desktop computers with Intel P4 processors:

* Intel 955X*
* Intel 945G/945P*
* Intel 925XE
* Intel 915PL
* Intel 915GL/915GV
* Intel 875P
* Intel 865PE
* Intel 850/850E
* Intel 845/845E/845PE

Not sure what most of this means....once again anyone have any solutions or care to school me on this?

Regards,

You are not going to get any different answers than you did

the first time you asked

and

the second time you asked

The only known workaround is the one that JMS40 mentioned the first time you asked: try using a powered USB hub. THe workaround is not a guarantee, though, and you would be better served getting a computer that is compatible.

That is not a "POWERED" usb hub.

Hello guys

I'm reading this post about chipset compatibility.
One client of mine has a stability problem with what seems to be a compatible chipset. He's experiencing reboots when PT is in use. I'm suspecting some bad install or configuration of the OS (XP pro SP2).The motherboard is an Asus P5LD2, which has socket 775 and Intel 945P chipset.
Any infos of the compatibility of this chipset with PT 6.x versions? Is it only suitable for PT7 use?

Thanx

L.G.

Powered USB hub = wall wart power supply.

You cannot change the Chipset.
