Default Upgrading from 6.4 to the newest version of PT

Guys,

It's been some time since I last posted! I have been using PT6.4 for some time with a lot of older plugins (old version of Waves Gold) and it's time to upgrade my computer to a new AMD X2 box. This may be a hard question to answer but can anyone comment on what incompatibility pains with my old plugins I may go through with the newest version of PT? I do not currently use an iLok on anything which is SO nice.

Any comments would be nice.

BTW, I am using the 002R.

Thanks guys,
Greg

If you want to take advantage of the X2 and the dual processor/core features of the new software, all of your plugins will need to be updated. Some/most may actually work, but they will not take advantage of the new efficiency improvements. Some (depending on what they are) may cause problems

spkguitar,

Thanks for the reply. I know that to make use of the dual core hardware, I will have to go with PT version 7. I guess I will have to looking into what plugins I really find I MUST have while other are not worth staying with an old version of PT for. I guess I am most worried about my Waves Gold bundle. It's an older version that I bought it from a friend (for dirt cheap) and I would bet that I do not have an upgrade option. If PT version 7 is worth it, I would not mind buying a new bundle as I know that I use them often.

Does everyone find version 7 much better than 6.4?

Thanks,

You don't mention, that I can see, what hardware you have.
It's worth mentioning, with the 001, 6.4 is the end of the road.

Read

Whats New in 6.7

Whats New in 6.9

and

Whats New in 7.0

and decide for yourself.

Way way, IMHO.
