I second That ! Seriously Loving 2020.3 . For me the video engine is extremely stable !

I've gotten it sorted. The problem was that nothing would populate the "Surfaces" window. Eventually uninstalling and restarting my computer, several times, triggered the EUCON software to see my iPad.

There are ways around the limitation, kind of a hack that lets you upgrade probably even to Mojave...do a little googling.

Your iMac CAN be upgraded to High Sierra and HS does run PT 2020.3.

2020.3 runs on Sierra

how STABLE it will be, as unsupported, is hard to know... but it runs

Pro Tools 2020.3 crashes every time I try to open a session.

Trashed Prefs
no Plugins

+ did a clean install of High Sierra + Catalina

10.14.6
iMac 27" 2017 (18,3)
HDX

Anybody else having this problem?

Yes, since PT crashed on Mojave, I tried High Sierra and Catalina.

Welcome to the community by the way.

Are all of those three OS installations so called clean installs or have you upgraded from some OS to something else? Do you perhaps have a Fusion drive installed on your iMac?
