the Grace is very nice for the price. The HHB Radius 10 is stunning for $700, especially considering it's 4 channels.

Hope this is helpful.

I have a Voicemaster Pro and it has lots of lights...that's the best thing I can say about it. I a/b'd it to an Avalon 737 and it's not contest. Then again, I'd expect that. But for the money I'd look seriously at the RNP or the new mic preamp from Summit. I've been very happy with the other Summit 1/2 rack stuff.

Koo,

are these the results you got from your "top 10 mic pre's in order for under $600.00" thread you posted on the windows side?

If you now have $700 to spend! than you could get the voicemaster pro with the optional digital card for around $700.00 (a little better converters than the 001, a good vocal strip but mono)

or

grab the FMR RNP for $450.00 and the the FMR RNC (Real Nice Compressor) for $175.00..then you will have a nice vocal chain and at the same time a stereo chain for other instruments (guit, keys, etc.) you then could purchase (later on) a Lucid or Apogee 2 ch. converter and then your talking a great front end to your 001 for anything!

If your main concern is vocals there are a lot of mono channel strips good ones for $700.00 and up mindprint w/ converters, Joe Meek, HHB, its starting to be a new game. a couple hundred more and your getting into another completly new leauge!

good luck

He just figured that since this was the mac forum, naturally the mic pre's would be more expensive over here

I don't see this mentioned here at all but you should look into the aphex 207. It has gotten really good reviews in mix and keyboard. I have an at 4050 and it really works well with this mic plus you have 2 channels with mic lim and also 2 instruments inputs. I just did a session that was all guitars. The acoustic was miced and the electric went throuh the di input with the pod. It sounded full, warm and clean. It is also around 500. Check it out.
