Default Hard Drive question - Building a computer

Hey guys. I'm building a computer for my lady which is always cutting demos on Pro Tools.

I have two sata 7200prm HDs, one has a 16MB cache and the other has a 32MB cache.

Which HD should have the OS and which HD should be the 2nd audio drive to make Pro Tools work the best... if any difference at all.

Extra Credit, she has an Mbox 1, will Pro Tools 8 have any problems with the Mbox 1? I'd like to surprise her with the upgrade.

Thanks for your time!
-Monty

Of the 2 drives you speak of, use the 16MB drive for the OS/programs and the 32 MB drive for the sessions.

Protools 8 works fine with the original Mbox

Thanks for the reply Tom.

And to you and anyone else, will there be a bottleneck issue here, or will it actually make a difference?

Thanks again!
Monty

PS, thanks geekzine!

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking here.

Sorry Tom, I'm not an experienced builder.

Will the OS HD (16MB cache) limit the other hard drive from its 32MB cache potential? Will it only allow the other HD to work with a 16MB cache? I won't be surprised at all if this sounds like a stupid question because I don't understand these specs in the first place, sorry.

Wanted to clearify what I thought I was asking though. Thanks again for your time.

HEY TOM my bud-deee
Gotcha, both drives would have to have 32MB cache then. we're on XP here.

Thanks!
