defective mbox 2's????

I posted earlier about the mbox 2nd input not working unless the 1/4 inch plug is plugged halfway into the input.
I got a reply about the same problem from someone else.
Anyone having issues with their mbox 2 units inputs?
I can't imagine a defective batch of mbox2's having bad inputs..
It's like input 1 works fine, but input 2 can't have the same settings.

early Pro Controls had non stadard pin configration on one of the connetors
so it's not totaly imposable but have you tried a diffrent 1/4" just to make sure.

A friend of mine has the same problem with channel 2. We tried switching cables, etc. One odd thing is that the Pad Switch seems to be reversed. When you push the cable all the way into the input jack, the signal gets hotter with the Pad Switch depressed. Same with XLR mic input. The DI input has no signal at all. Most strange. Channel 1 works fine. He can function with the cable half out (must be running on the RS of the TRS), but the levels are still strange, plus some distortion every now and then. He tried calling Tech Support, but the holiday flood is in full swing. The tech support folks have a really rough load this time of year. If anyone gets through re this particular difficulty, please post their response.
