Default OT - How was your New Years gig?

Not sure if this was already covered, but how was your new years gig? I played for a golden age club crowd. They were on the dance floor from start to finish, which is always good for the performance... Free food and drinks... also helps the performance .

got that right. I guess if you're a musician, new years eve is the money maker. But packing up your gear at the end is a killer isn't it? Played a new years gig with my uncle once, he got to bed at 3am and had to get up at 4am to fish. Now that's commitement to your livelyhood. On both ends...

Played a gig with a blues band...gig went over well, and was good $$, but the drummer, let's just say that the only time he had was on his watch...!! Good guy, but unfortunately, he hasn't discovered that less is more yet, maybe he never will. He had energy though, and this got the band over. It's like the band almost sounded good, but it was hard to settle. War stories from a bass player.

We switch drummers often, or whenever they are available, and boy... There can be a very big difference... Some are likely to speed up, others to slow down... Unbelievable how mentally tiring it canbe to try to make it work with a fluctuating drummer... But you gotta keep a smile on... I just hope now one notices...
