Default 8.0.3 LE, why do i have an Eleven Rack Pref Panel now?

any particular reason any of my RAM or system resources would be wasted by installing a preference panel for a box i do not own?

shabby!

It's there for users that run systems (such as in a studio) where someone might bring in an Eleven Rack. Or users that have an Eleven Rack and another LE interface. There are users that have both here on the DUC.

If you are never going to use it, preference panels are easy to remove:
Right Click or Control Click on the pref pane in system preferences, and choose remove.

There are also some plug-ins that you can remove if you never use an Eleven Rack, listed on this page.

I can't say the logic behind this kind of stuff makes sense...let people install the drivers if they need them...it's more than a bit rude.

I am not a musician. (Gasp!)
I use my simple ProTools MBox2 Mini and a MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard 10.6.2) setup for voice work.
I will never plug in an Eleven Rack into my system.
NEVER!

1) Is there ANY reason for me to NOT remove the Eleven Rack from my Mac's System Preferences?

2) Is there ANY advantage to me for having all those Eleven *.dpm files taking up disk space on my MacBook? (I assume they only work with the Eleven Rack's outboard DSP.)

The logic is that you can connect any Digi device and it will work with your system without having to find your installer CD/DVD or downloading an installer.

If we don't install them, we get complaints from people in the opposite situation, so it was a decision of 'which is more convenient'.

The files don't do anything without the device attached, so they're completely harmless.

If you're never going to attach an Eleven Rack or purchase/use the Eleven plug-in, then it's find to remove the panel. Same goes for the dpm files.

This leads me to thequestion of why the installer(s) have been dumbed down?
use to be able to have a lot more control of extras at install

yet the silence over the coremidi bug is deafening..!

how come you can always get responses to trifling issues and total silence over big whopping bugs from DAW companies?
