Default question about session template/folders

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to do this:

I just want to avoid setting up new tracks and settings every time I start a new song, so I need to have some kind of template to start a new song with and then save it as the actual song's name.

But if I make a folder named "Session" as the template, then it just saves the new song inside it as a ptf. I want the new song to have it's own folder.

I imagine people here have a quick way to start up and save new songs.. ?

Thanks!

djcream, create a session as desired and save the session as a template. 'Session Templates' Page 123 Pro Tools 8 Reference Guide. Good reason to upgrade too.

Thanks filosofem that's just what I was looking for. I'm still figuring out the easiest / most efficient way to do this. Session Templates will get me started.

If you or anyone has their personal system of creating & saving PT sessions that works well, I would love to hear about it.

Import Session Data is a workaround. Setup a session as a make-shift template then create a new session and import the session data from that make-shift template.

That's it! This way I'm left with a new session folder - properly titled - in the destination of my choice. And it's just a few clicks. No fuss. All I had to modify was in the Import Session Data window - alt+click on drop down menu to include all the tracks, and pick New Track and then OK and all the tracks and settings fly into your new session.

I am using a PC keyboard that's why I say "alt" instead of "command" or whatever it is on a mac keyboard - can't remember.

I like this solution much better filosofem so thanks again. Now it'll take me 4 seconds to start a new song instead of 5 minutes
