iLok won't activate PT [RESOLVED]

I am hoping someone can help. I purchased PT 9 used from ebay with all registration codes and iLok. I successfully loaded all the software and downloaded the iLok manager. I then signed into iLok site with the info the seller gave me and changed the password. All seemed sell until I tried to open PT and it said "missing iLok authorization." I checked the iLok software and saw that PT had not been "activated" on it even though it is shown in the license manager. When I try to activate it tells me that I don't own the iLok! The seller seems confused by the as well. I don't think he is trying to rip me off. I tried all the different usb ports and optimized the system for PT already. Can anyone help?

Does anyone know if I need to pay to transfer or reassign the iLok? I tried contacting them, but they are only available weekdays

I am so angry about this thing. I transferred the software to a new account in my name (for 25 bucks), and still cannot activate. This iLok thing is beyond stupid.

We still don't know what you have
iLoks are tied to accounts so if the account you were given was registered to that account you should have been good
If you have an account with a license sitting in it you need an nu-registered iLok
At this point I think the seller took you

I don't think he took me. He and his friend have spent a lot of time on the phone with me. He has a perfect ebay rating. He says he never actually used the iLok or PT software. He got it from the friend and then put it on ebay. The PT software installed with no problem.

The friend said he released or unregistered (not sure which term he used, something like that) the PT software on the Avid site.

Then it sounds like the friend (or someone else) had registered that iLok to an iLok account at some point. You would need to know what the iLok User ID the iLok is registered to. Avid has no way to find that out without more information, either the iLok User ID or the name and email address that was used with that iLok.

There is no such process for either of those things that a user could have done on their own. Again, the name and email address of the original purchaser would have to be provided in order to see if they had contact with Avid support to do anything with an already registered product.

Yes, the friend had registered the iLok. He then transferred the account to my seller. I just obtained the friend's iLok username and actual name. Where do I go from here?

I think the friend meant he deactivated the iLok license, not PT. I was confused. Sorry.

Also, I have the yellow cards, but when I try to register it says that the numbers are already used. Do I even need to register or can I just get the software running if I correct the iLok situation?

This has become very stressful and I would really appreciate any help I can get. I previously had PT 6.4 (which I bought new with a digi 001), so this iLok thing is totally new to me. I did a lot of research and received a lot of help on this forum so I could update. I have everything I need except activation!
