Default Hard Disc / SSD ?

Hi!

I know this has been talked to death, but I still want your opinion(s).

To this date I have used a dedicated hard disc where my Pro Tools recordings goes. My C-drive is a SSD. I want to change my dedicated Pro Tools recordings to go to a SSD.

Have had issues with recordings/sessions going to a SSD? Positive/negative experiences?

Thank You!

Still comes down to cost.
Both mediums have their place.

10TB spinner drives for on hand storage
SSD and or other flash for boot, sample-streaming, video...

2tb ssd $700.00 or so
2tb spinner $100.00 or so
10tb ssd n/a but coming $$$$.00
10tb spin $400.00 or so

I've been recording and running sessions exclusively from SSDs for over two years now. Not one single issue. In fact, I think they perform better than spinning HDs do. Much faster through put, and read/write speeds for high sample rate/high track count sessions.

I still use my spinning hard drives as cold storage and archival storage.

I use separate SSDs for my system drive and recording drive. Still not about to record to my system drive, even on a SSD.

Once you go ssd route it’s hard to go back. Only for storage. All else ssd without doubt.

I actϊa went from a Spinner to SSD then to a M.2 drive.

No issues I love it....i just upgraded my M.2 to a 500gb $160 USD.

I will probably keep the 256gb for a backup.
