Distorted Audio in 10.1.1

Hi!

Some older (Month old.) , larger sessions are exhibiting distortion coming from existing audio tracks. Sounds like bit depth reduction.

Tracks played back fine before installing 10.1.1.

All playback engine settings are normal.

Sessions with VI's and no audio tracks play fine.

Distortion is still there when all plugs are disabled.

Importing tracks into a new session does not help.

I have a session created just before I updated and all audio tracks play back fine, so I don't think a reinstall or prefs trash will help.

I have a feeling this fix will need to come from Avid, but suggestions are welcome.

Any solutions on this. I don't want to install the 10.1.1 update if it will shut me down.

10.1.1 works nicely here. No distortion on older sessions.

Gladly tech support got in touch with me. I will send avid this crazy session.

Maybe of interest is:

The problematic session was born on a PPC Mac with protools 8.01cs2
Most edits have been done in 10.0.0. Suround routing started here
Finetuning in 10.0.1
Session death in 10.1.1

What version of Protools has born your sessions?

It seems that the older sessions I am having a problem with have tracks imported from an 002 at 44k, 24 bit.

When I convert my problem sessions to 44k 24 bit, they play fine.

I went ahead with the update from 10.0.1 to 10.1.1. All sounds good. I loaded a session from 2006. It was probably originally PT7. It sounds fine here. It was stereo but It tried some 5.1 routing with no problems.
