delay compensation problem involving EZ drummer, routed midi, and Ozone
Hi,
I am using PT10HD with delay compensation set on long. EZ drummer has data on it's own track as well as another midi track. Ozone is inserted into the master fader. Ozone requires 3562 samples compensated, quite a hog but is covered by long setting. EZ drummer track data, which is from EZ drummer and not recorded in, is perfectly in sync but a separate midi track routed to EZ drummer that has percussion ends up sounding late even though that data is also from EZ drummer and is visually in sync. If I shut off Ozone, all is fine visually and sonically. I did the math and found that I can minus about 80-90 ms using realtime delay in the separate midi track while Ozone is on. I can't set realtime delay in samples like I can in the midi global delay. I also tried the global -/+ midi delay in preferences and that just moved both the instrument and midi so they were both off as you would imagine. It seems that Pro tools compensation doesn't look at midi tracks the same way as it does the instruments even though all the data goes to the same instrument. It appears that I was better off with compensation off in the first place? Maybe the question is, when do I really need delay compensation?

Re: delay compensation problem involving EZ drummer, routed midi, and Ozone
Thank you Chuck, I tried it out but I still had the delay problem. What I ended up doing temporarily was to merge , alt M, the separate midi track into the instrument data. As I was typing this, I tried something else.
Instead of using a midi track routed to the instrument, I set up a blank instrument track and then I used instrument view in the edit page and set the output to EZ Drummer. It worked like a charm! Maybe a lesson learned. Never use a midi track with delay compensation on.
