We are pleased to present Ambi Head, a plugin converting ambisonic signals into 3D binaural audio.

More details : Ambi Head allows manipulations of 3D scenes (rotations and control of spatial width) and contains HRTF filters specifically designed for immersive listening and accurate reproduction of B-format signals.

Custom HRTF filters can be loaded via the integrated SOFA importer, letting users choose “custom heads” for personalized binaural rendering.

An integrated Goniometer provides visual display of the binaural output (Lissajous display) giving meaningful insights into the scene spatial properties.

Background : Ambisonics is a "scene-based" paradigm to capture, transform and render 3D audio. It is ideal for 360 videos and interactive media allowing listeners to rotate their head into the scene. If you never heard about it, a good introduction is available on Wikipedia. Free Ambisonics wavfiles can also be found (e.g., www.ambisonia.com).

I am involved with a VR project. .
May I ask, the "W X Y Z" inputs I see, is that essentially either a quad input or the L R Ls Rs of a 5.1 ?

W X Y Z is an ambisonic B-format input.
It may come from a panner like Ambi Pan, or from an ambisonic mic (e.g, SoundField, Tetramic, Zoom H2n...). If you want to experiment with Ambi Pan/Head, we provide template projects for PT 11 HD on our website.
