Getting CD tracks into Protools
Newbie on the forum here with what probably amounts to a pretty basic question. I've got three sets of live music I recorded onto a Marantz portable CD recorder and I'd like to get them into protools for editing. The CD's are "finalized" so the tracks aren't in wave format.
I know how to use the import function to get existing wave files into new tracks. However, my version of protools says it can't read the files on my CD. When I convert them to mp3's first (which I'd rather not do anyway), it says that it won't read mp3's either. Any solutions? Do I need to get a separate software package to convert mp3's to wave files? If so, any suggestions for a good cheap one? Thanks, Michael |

Re: Getting CD tracks into Protools
upgrade to PT7 or higher (which allows importing audio direct from CD), or get CD ripping software eg. Audiograbber

Re: Getting CD tracks into Protools
Google CDEx. It is a great ripper and it is free.
