Default Copy clip - automatically create a new file?

Pro Tools 8 and 9
If I copied a clip (region) by alt dragging, a new file would be created and the clip would have a new name.

Pro Tools 10
I cannot get this to work in PT 10. The new clip has the same name and no new file is created.
I have to consolidate the new clip to create a new file.

I can't find a preference to automatically create a new file.
Thanks for your help.

I'll be watching as well. One simple thing you can do is to simply place the cursor anywhere on your copied clip/region and hit B(separate clip). I do that whenever I want to use Elastic Audio on any clip. Since EA can sometimes screw up the audio, working on a duplicate means I can grab the original audio and start over.

I can see the advantages of this new workflow -
1. Copying clips in PT10 saves disk space because the copies are just aliases - not new files.
2. It's still non-destructive because if a copy is processed e.g. AudioSuite/Time Stretch, a new file is created.

But is there a Preference/Option to return to the old workflow?
Thanks for your help.

Haven't seen an option to return to the old way, but I can't think of any drawbacks with the way it works now. Are there any?

No - probably not. I think I just need to get used to it.
Another advantage is that the Clip List is less cluttered.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I see a flaw in this system, when I duplicate or repeat a MIDI region and go into the notes view to try and edit one of the regions note by note, all the changes I make to one region apply to the others as well. The only way I've found to overcome this is by copying the notes inside the notes view but it would be much easier just ctrl + D

Turn off mirrored MIDI editing.
