Default Building a new system *feedback*

I am building a new (PC) based system to run digi002. I am concerned about *hardware compatiblity issues, so far I see none but if anyone cares to take the time to look over the following component list, and enlighten me to any conflicts that I may run into I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I am wondering just how important SCSI VS SATA is. I would like to be running a Raid 0+1 and hope that in some far off future DIGI gets cracking.Since that is not an option at present I will be using either a 160 gb SATA Drive or a 73GB SCSI Drive.

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-8KNXP, Intel 875P chipset for Socket 478 P4 ATX motherboard
Specifications:
Supported CPU:Intel® Pentium® 4 processor. Hyper-Threading Ready
Chipset:Intel® 875P MCH
FSB:800 / 533 MHz FSB
RAM:6x Dual Channel DDR 400/333 Max 4GB ECC Support
IDE:2 x UDMA ATA 133/100/66 Bus Master IDE Max 4 Devices
Slots:1 x AGP Pro, 5 x PCI (PCI 2.2 compliant) and 1 x DPS
Ports:2xPS2,1xLPT,1xCOM,4xUSB,LAN and Audio Ports
Onboard Audio:Realtek ALC655 CODEC
Onboard LAN:82547EI Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Onboard RAID:GigaRAID controller chip
Onboard IEEE:Texas Instrument IEEE 1394 chip
Onboard SATA:Silicon Image Serial ATA chip

CPU:
Intel Pentium 4 / 3.0CGHz 512k socket 478 Hyper Threading Technology 800 MHz FSB - RETAIL
Specifications:
CPU: 3.0GHz
Type: Pentium 4 Northwood
Cache: 512K
BUS: 800 Mhz
Socket: 478 (hyper threading will be turned off)

Drives *still not certain whether I should be using SCSI or SATA so I will list both alternatives*

Seagate 160GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive Barracuda 7200.7 ST3160023AS - OEM
Specifications:
Size: 160 Gigabytes
Interface: Serial ATA
Seek time: 9ms
RPM:7200
Data Transfer: 150MB/sec
Cache 8MB

or if it really matters

Cheetah 73LP

Model Number:ST373405LW
Capacity:73 GB
Speed:10000 rpm
Seek time:5.1 ms avg
Interface:Ultra160 SCSI

Ram X4 Dimms:
CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency (Twin Pack) 1GB(2 x 512MB) 2x(64MX64) PC-3200LL
Specifications:
Speed 400 MHz
Organization 2 x 64M x 64
Memory type DDR
Part number: TWINX1024-3200LL

All the rest including power source and cooling solutions are a function of taste rather then being prime componentry for running pro tools, so I won't list those. The system I have selected is about as good as I will be able to get on my budget and the hardware has been selected to be compatible with itself, and I hope with pro-tools. If SCSI is going to be a prime issue then the Mobo I have in mind is the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Ultra, essentially not much different just lacks the fire wire and has an added Onboard Adaptec Ultra320 SCSI chip. Thanks for any input you might have.

Default Re: Building a new system *feedback*

mmm,
reading that digi002 will not support Raid configurations.....erm, I get that right or I need some more coffee? Some more coffee didn't work. I don't quite understand why digi002 isn't compatible with using RAID array's. It seems obvious to me that using RAID 0, and raid 0+1 for the data concerned would boost write/read timings therefore maximizing system performance....
