Default PT 9... Anything I should know?

Hi Guys
A friend/client wants to buy me a PT upgrade as a "thank you" for my work on his album.
I've got a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM. I'm running 10.6.8. and using PT LE 8.0.5.

I don't want to go to Lion because I've heard mixed reports, and I don't really want to go to PT 10 because it just seems to buggy.

So I've asked him to find PT 9. I know it will be nice to be able to use any audio interface with it. That new UA Apollo has got me salivating already!

Aside from that, is there anything positive or negative that I should know before going ahead with this transaction?
Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all

I was on a similar setup for approximately a year and don't recall any major problems. My interface was a MBox2 Pro and then a Focusrite Saffire PRO 24.

I'm using a 2.4 ghz c2d non-unibody MacBook pro running osx 10.6.8 and pt10 is just as stable as 9. Also the clip gain alone in 10 is worth it. So unless you really think 9 will be better I'd be okay with 10. You know since it's easier to find than 9.

And once you get to use a nicer interface you'll wonder how you got by for so long. (new mbox excluded as I've read it's really nice) I love my ULN2.

hey you might want to reconsider and go with 10 the channel strip and delay compensation are nice features plus have you checked the vid on the UA sight about how UA plugs were redesigned to play nice with PTs ?

I have an apollo ordered and am using PTX, since I did all system optimizations, reset PRAM, ran onyx, PTX has been running well.

Exciting options with those UA features! Thanks for sharing!
But 9 has delay compensation too, right?
I'm still concerned with 10's reliability. I know they just released a bug fixing update, but...

Yes, 9 has delay compensation.

I'm running 10.0.1 on a MBP with OS X 10.6.8 and if anything it's been more stable than PT9. Would definitely be worth considering After a few weeks you'll wonder how you lived so long without clip gain!
