Re: Is it better to SRC up or down? Dilema.
As long as we're talking about 20-20k band limited end product

Re: Is it better to SRC up or down? Dilema.
I would probably up-sample the whole thing to 96x32 float because a lot of plug-ins sound better up there.

But the question now seems to be: Do I resample now, possibly introduce artifacts, so that the mixer can use certain plug-ins that sound better at higher sample rates? And in this case, even though the plugins work better with the audio, they may now be dealing with audio that is slightly compromised by SRC. Or do I leave things at 44.1 and feed cleaner audio into plugins that wish the audio was of a higher sample rate? Will the problems inherent to this method sound better or worse than the first? And even more important, should I be thinking about this process at all or just wait and see what the mixer says? I mean, I do have to get the piano track into my session somehow before this goes to mix. I just don't know what way will be better in the end for the mixer to do his/her job. Bring the piano down and leave the session as is, or as you are suggesting now, bring both the session and piano up to 96k. And can PT handle the SRC and do an okay job? Or should that be handled by better software that I don't own? It is music meant for cd, but possibly eventual sync in film.

Re: Is it better to SRC up or down? Dilema.
I find up-sampling less harmful.

Re: Is it better to SRC up or down? Dilema.
PT 7.2 to PT 8.0 shows negligible difference and that is one of the most hated transitions. Please tell me why that graphs is bad?
