Default Easy way to monitor my mix in MONO ???

I'm looking for an easy way (fewest steps possible) to monitor my mix in mono to check for phase and balance issues. I'd like to simply A/B between stereo and mono while mixing.

Is this possible in PT ???

Thanks, in advance for you help!

I'll second that request. I produce radio imaging and could really use a mono/phase check when it comes to using stereo delays and so on. The PT manual only says to mono out the return channels on the mixer you're feeding Pro-tools back into. Fine, but I send and return to the computer via my mixers rec in/out tape loop..not possible in that config. You can accomplish the mono summing by making all tracks output to a bus and then feeding the aux they feed to the master...but then you can't solo...plus it's a pain in the ass.
Any other workarounds out here?

This is just a thought....

1.) Create two Stereo master tracks.
2.) On one master track, Slide both left and right pan sliders to the middle.
3.) On the other master track, leave the pans set to left and right.

Now you should be able to Mute one and unmute the other to hear the respective mix.

Will this work for ya?

I should note, I've never done this so I can't verify if it works or not...

So don't start yelling at me calling me *&$^ names if it doesn't work.

I've never tried this, but can't you simply create a stereo and mono master fader?

Maybe I'm missing something, but when I create master fader files I don't see pan options. Also even when i create a mono master fader I STILL hear the mix in stereo.

A great big "mono" button seems like an easy feature.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">LOL, yes you would think it would be an easy option... But what color would it be? That my friend is the delima.

I'm heading home for lunch, and I'll take a look at it... ugh, got me wondering now...

still thinking of it, but when you hold the windows start key when clicking on an output, you can assign multiple outputs. That way you can send your signal to a stereo-aux-track. Pan that one to mono and use mutes.... And dont forget to put the same plugins on that one as you have on your masterfader.

BTW....I use a consumer-amplifier to listen to my digi001, and it has a mono button....

BRB... are you using an outboard mixer?
If so, you might set up something like this:
On my Mackie, there are several Aux sends... all mono, of course... I run the #1 aux send to the mono speaker (which is the audio input to a little TV set's 2" speaker)

When I want to check mono, I bring up the aux send from the respective channel strips (and all #1 aux sends are summed to mono.)
