Default 002 Replacement

I'm curious to whether or not if I register my 002 not being the original owner
of it if Avid will still replace it. I'm only asking this because I have one of the
dreaded A-F serial numbers and it has been giving me problems..
such as shutting down or disconnecting randomly as well as giving me
clicks and pops.... if any one needs to see a sandra report, just ask and
I will be happy to post one... Any insight is much appreciated

Thanks.

Really great option that I can help you with is simply Exchange it for a 003:

It seems as though I have to pay 1,300 bucks for it instead of a legit exchange
and I don't have that much money to throw around. I would gladly exchange
it if I could at least get a decent discount on it or if they can replace it
for free. I am also not the original owner of the device and the person
I bought from wasn't it's original owner either so I do not have registration
papers.

Replace what The entire unit? Not likely. Now a power harness is like a $29 part.

Exchange a discontinued unit for a discontinued unit?

Can't really see that one, especially considering the price is $100 less than just buying the 003.

Best thing to do is get some deoxit then clean and reseat your connections.

I believe the problem is the power harness... I've tried going through Avid to
get this part but they require an ASC and since I'm not the original owner
I can't register to get one so I've taken it to an Avid dealer who is going
to test it and hopefully replace or fix the parts thanks all for the advice...

I'm about to replace the harness for the first time(002r). Is it necessary to use deoxIT? If so, can I use the spray instead of the gel?

You might also contact Black Lion Audio. They do modifications of the 002, which you could look into. But they also might do straight repairs, as well.

If for some reason you do decide to get a 003, be aware that most dealers have them on clearance for $799 brand new.

The spray should work fine. Don't make a mess. Before you remove the original harness, work each connection off and on 5-6 times to help clean the pins.
