The fact that so many people are clamouring for stability is the concerning aspect. Why has this software become so unstable for many people?

Hmmm...

One suspects the two are related. The more features Pro Tools has gained, the less stable it has become.

Possibly.

No one else has this issue though. Just Pro Tools with random errors.

Why do people need to be asked this question to begin with?
We pay for a software with features. If there are bugs, they have to be taken care of. Free of charge and no questions asked. If Avid isn't able to deliver both and clients should decide if they want a stable software or useful new features, something is wrong. Even more so if they're forced into an annually payed subscription plan to receive any bugfixes at all.

What interests me is the 32% of respondents who'd rather have more features than stability and bug fixes...

Probably the ones for whom PT runs fairly stable.

But... but... it's like a focus group telling a car manufacturer they'd rather have increased ways to adjust the seats than a reduced likelihood of the wheels falling off.

In a world where Avid's business model in conjunction with their business conduct works out fine for them, we need a new definition for "stupid".

Actually, there's probably a rich source of jokes to be had from "If Avid made cars...".

Maybe, but I'm not so sure jokes about a car that can drive 120 MPH, yet sometimes randomly comes to a complete stop with no warning, will be very funny to this group.
