Default Protools 11.2.1 and 11.2.2 unable to detect Eleven Rack

I have been attempting for several days now to get my system back up and running. I installed the Eleven Rack editor and Protools 11.2.1. When I went to start up Protools it was unable to detect hardware. Did a couple of reboots, alternating having Eleven Rack on before starting computer and after - no luck. (It had been working perfectly on Protools 10 and earlier on Protools 11). Tried uninstalling and going back to Protools 10 - which now keeps crashing on startup with an unknown error. Tried uninstalling Eleven Rack editor - no luck. Updated to Protools 11.2.2 - no luck. Installed ASIO4ALL - now Protools 11.2.2 works, but I still can't select my Eleven Rack as Protools apparently doesn't know it exists. Eleven rack works fine to play iTunes through and detects my guitar fine - just Protools doesn't know it's there. When I went to contact Avid support I got the lovely surprise that it will cost me money to ask them a question - nice! System specs below - is anyone able to help me please?

Question Re: Protools 11.2.1 and 11.2.2 unable to detect Eleven Rack

Welcome to the community!

What version of the Eleven Rack Driver do you have installed?

Is the Eleven Rack an option for Playback Engine when launching Pro Tools with the N key down?

Thanks,
JC

Thanks for the reply - driver version 5.10.0.5123 and no, when I hold "N" at Protools startup the only playback engine listed is ASIO4ALL. I have downloaded the most recent 1.1.7 driver and I think I have installed it. When I run the driver install I get the Microsoft C++ installation windows, but nothing else comes up telling me it's successfully installed.

Have you tried other USB ports? Have you disabled Power Management on all USB ports(called USB Root Hub in Device Manager)? Have you tried another USB cable?

Yes I've tried other USB ports, yes I've tried another USB cable. No, I haven't disabled power management on all USB ports because your post is the first time I have ever heard of doing that anywhere. I'll try that and see what happens. Please forgive the stupid question - what does that do and why would it affect Eleven rack/Protools when they used to work fine on the same computer?

First go to Control Panel>Programs and Features and make certain you have the Eleven Rack Driver installed.

Attachment 3172

I would suggest you turn OFF the Eleven Rack. Then uninstall the Eleven Rack Driver (if it is installed). Then uninstall ASIO4ALL.

Then trash preferences

Restart the PC.

Download and install the Eleven Rack driver. The Eleven Rack should be OFF this whole time.

Once the driver is installed, turn OFF the PC.

Turn ON the Eleven Rack, then turn ON the PC.

Try to launch Pro Tools. What happens?

Thanks very much for that. I understand all the steps - Avid Eleven Rack driver does not show up in Programs and Features even though I have downloaded it several times (in case one was corrupted) and been through the installation process. I have installed it with Eleven Rack turned off, the shut down computer, turned on Eleven Rack & restarted the computer. When I start the driver install, I never receive a message saying driver install has completed. All I get are a couple of quick windows installing Microsoft C++ and then nothing. I have tried installing with Firewall and Virus Protection disabled. Any thoughts?

If its not showing in Programs and Features and you do not have an item like this in control panel
Attachment 3173
The driver is not being installed.

Have you tried Right Clicking the Driver installer and choose RUN AS ADMIN?
