E-MU 1616m
I am wanting to move to either a PCI or PCIe audio interface and this one has the same converters as the Digi 192's
Any horror stories about E-MU? Are they garbage? Thanks!

Re: E-MU 1616m
I don't have any first hand experiences with E-MU, but most of the forums I visit don't look to highly at them. As I recall, very much entry level consumer based stuff. Hopefully someone who has used one will chime in.
I'm really only replying to this because no one with hands on experience has. Joel

Re: E-MU 1616m
Would the Echo Layla still be something to consider?
ALL the PCI/PCIe cards I have seen do not have a breakout box these days and I HATE the stupid little plugs and cables dangling off the back of the cards

Re: E-MU 1616m
What is your price range and what features are you looking for?
The E-MU interface you mentioned is part of their higher end interfaces and seems to get decent reviews for sound quality, but I'm not sure how current their drivers are. They still list XP and Vista as the OS. Not that it won't work, I'm just not sure how active that interface is anymore. Echo Audio has always made good interfaces and their drivers are more current, but I think you can get better sound quality with some of the newer Firewire and USB interfaces. If your budget is a little bigger and you don't need mic pres, I would look at the offerings from MOTO. |

Re: E-MU 1616m
I'd also look at getting a USB or Firewire interface, it gives you the option of portability and hopefully more future upgrade-ability. You never know when it might get hard to find a MB with PCIe slots.
