Default Can we please have a complete rollout of the PT12 (vanilla and HD) licensing

So now on AVIDs facebook page we get more incomplete tidbits to add to our confusion and further obfuscate whatever the truth is. I know its a user forum but I also know there are those here that CAN speak for the company.

https://www.facebook.com/AvidProToolsFamily

Now you say you can get back on a plan - is that HD or Vanilla or both?

Yesterday AVID CS is quoted as if you don't have a plan by end of 2015 you need to buy a new HD system to ever get updates.

It is a simple courtesy to announce a detailed description of the terms of what is being sold. Can we PLEASE have the answer?

My take is, this is in regards to HD, as she mentions Avid Hardware.

Quote:
Hey all... there has been some confusion with support that I want to clarify. Avid in no way expects customers to re buy their valuable hardware to get current . If a customers lapses on support, they will have a 30 day grace period to get back on with no additional fees. If they fall off support for longer than the 30 day window, our policy is that they pay for the time lapsed (prorated), plus for the new upcoming year. plus a 25% reinstatement fee for the new year. HTH to clear things up.

The official response is that Avid is happy to take your money and offer something completely ambiguous with terms subject to change on a whim at any time in the future.

And what if you just have 11HD and don't buy a support plan before end of 2015?

And what exactly does this mean? our policy is that they pay for the time lapsed (prorated)??? And is this Vanilla and HD, HD only???

I appreciate your comment but only AVID can tell us what i am asking. I neither want debate or speculation - just the facts.

Marianna is from Avid and she posted this 2hrs ago:

1. You don't have to re-buy hardware

2. You have a 30 day grace period to buy without any penalties.

3. After the 30 days you have to pay pro-rated fees ($50 for each month you missed after 30 days) PLUS next year ($599) in advance, PLUS 25% ($150) re-establishment fee.

Did she also answer what if you have PT9HD 10HD or 11HD and don't get on a plan by the end of 2015? All the same rules apply??

Yes - where do they post this stuff?? Why not here or their website I wonder.

BTW - item 3 looks almost identical to the OLD, original WUP plan. So if you miss 3 years you just have to pay everything you would have paid anyway p;us a penalty. Too funny in a sad sort of way

Yes, so true, and Waves changed that because forcing customers to pay for every missed month plus a penalty was outrageous and customers started leaving.

Avid are you listening?

Waves changed the policy because customers started leaving.

Avid, are you so foolish you can't learn from the past mistakes of others?

Ugh. Terrible idea and terrible pricing.

No incentive to ever buy avid hardware again. Totally shafted again. I beginning regret the purchase. 12 has nothing I want Period and it's buggy.

I'd rather wait for 13. Looks like a 1300 to 1500 upgrade no matter what. Ripoff.

Errr… the link is in the OP post…

You have laugh hysterically at the way Avid is now performing. She starts the post with.." there has been some confusion with support that I want to clarify."

Now why is there some confusion you may well ask.
Is it because Avid have refused to answer said requests re the topic?
Affirmative.

This info should have been stated months ago. Their PR is terrible ..

There are no "knowns." There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don't know.
