Default Re: upcoming Hybrid Engine HDX Option?

Hybrid means The Mixer is native and the system can use additional DSP. What HDX means is The Mixer is on DSP and the system can use native processing.

When Carbon tracks are in DSP Mode some of the DSP chips are used for the Mixer. I checked back with a screenshot I made a few weeks ago when I tested Carbon.
So my understanding is: Hybrid means the Mixer is Native normally but changes to a DSP based Mixer whenever DSP Mode is activated.

Best

So why would you need the hybrid engine on an HDX system...increase of voice count I guess? For those that have HDX1 or 2 ... probably no added value for HDX3 users...

I guess it can also help for session compatibility with non HDX systems. It’s a different workflow to switch from native to DSP and back with just one click.
But what happens when your on 300 voices and switch to DSP mode to record overdubs?

With Voice Packs, Native can go to much higher (official) voices than HDX. Unless you run the unofficial (as of now) HDX4.

Since the expanded voices for HDX cards didn't happen, this is where HDX users are. Native can have more voices than HDX systems and when it comes to large sessions that use lots of voices (like ATMOS), you run out of mixer voices fast.
